One reason I went with their turnouts but used Atlas flex. Had to shim the turnouts, no big deal, and will be painting & ballasting the track, so any visual issues will be within my tolerance level.
$8.25 per piece in a 10 pack from MB. Also don’t forget that it is a little longer than Atlas at 39". So MSRP on 36" Atlas code 83 is $6.75. I’m sure MB will have this at a similar discount.
I agree that the cost is going too high. Good thing I’m between women so I don’t have to answer to or blow money on her. As prices go up, I’ll need all the cash I can get.
Wonder where it is made, that might have something to do with it.

Hah hah…Just beeing goofy, thanks for the read, & hope you had a laugh…
I thought you knew, but I use Walthers flex track on my layout. I like the extra 3", it looks good, easy to work with. And at Caboose Hobbies I get it for $8/ea.
I mentioned the MSRP because, discounted or not, it is way higher than competitor’s flex track.
What’s the point of the thread? After reading through two other threads about competitor’s brands, the skyrocketing cost, and the lack of availability of at least one brand, I went to the Walthers website and searched for “Code 83 flex track”. When Walthers brand showed up at $11.00 MSRP, I was shocked.
I have yet to receive a satisfactory explanation of the MSRP difference from competitive brands of flex track, all of which are priced substantially lower.
Peco code 83 flex track sells for a notch above $ 5 for a 36" length, now that´s less than half of the price. Walthers is apparently trying to harvest some extra $$$ on Atlas failing to supply.
As my mom said “other moms have beautiful daughters as well!”
Not to everyone, perhaps. But others might remember that Walthers is primarily a distributor, not a manufacturer It keeps its list prices high on everything to allow for discounting to dealers and regular promotions (like the annual track sale going on now).
Folks who understand wholesale and retail buy everything from Walthers at a discount by working through dealers and/or waiting for a promotion.
And as noted, importing from Japan is different from importing from China.
No one with a clue is paying MSRP for Walthers flex. Comparing PECO (manufacturer) street price with Walthers (distributor) MSRP is comparing apples and oranges.
