I have just complete (sort of) Walthers concrete coaling tower. Overall, it is a fine looking structure and I am really happy with the way my weathering turned out. The problem is in the fine details (pulleys, weights, chutes, etc.). In the words of John McEnroe “You cannot be serious”. Assembly of these components requires the touch of a jeweler and the patience of Job, neither which I possess. I’ll admit to being all thumbs when it comes to working with tiny parts but this kit I find to be extraordinarily difficult to complete. I finally threw in the towel when it came to trying to thread the cable through the components. Had I continued, I would have gone blind, insane, or both. I said “(bleep) it”, and just glued the chutes in the raised position and went without installing the cables (threads). At some point I might attempt to just attach the threads with glue rather than trying to thread it through all the intricate detail. If anyone has any tips for working with tiny parts such as these, I would love to hear it.
Try replacing the threads with fine wire. They make fuse wire that is about the thickness of a coarse human hair.
