Walthers Cornerstone City Station #933-2904

I am considering one of the above referenced stations (maybe with some kit bashing) for my layout but I need some information to see if it will fit.

Does anyone have one of these, either an unbuilt kit or a completed model? If so, I am looking for some info:

  1. What are the measurements of the footprint? From the online instruction sheet It doesn’t look like a simple rectangle. For track planning purposes I need to be able to make a template of the station footprint.

  2. Does the building appear to be a candidate for switching the two end sections–that is, when looking at it from the track side, could one place the covered but open passenger waiting area on the left end and the enclosed baggage room on the right?

PS: If you have the kit and are interested in selling it, please email me off line with your asking price and estimated shipping to 98284.

Roger,

Is this what you’re looking for?

I have that exact same structure that is built. It is awaiting an interior. The roof pieces can easily be modified so that you can build and access an interior through the roof.

The measurement is 17 5/8" by 5 7/8". The base is rectangular.

The two end pieces cannot be easily switched around. The covered passenger platform is slightly smaller in size than the baggage room.

wholeman,

Thanks for the info. While the base or platform upon which the building is designed to sit is rectangular, it appears the footprint of the building only is like three rectangles of different sizes strung together with the center one being the largest. Is that correct? If so, and if it isn’t too much trouble, can you give me the measurements of the building footprint?

Roger

superbe,

Yes, that is what I am looking for. But being on a limited budget I am hoping to get one for less $$$. Thanks anyway.

Roger

The main part is roughly 11" by 5". The two outer rooms are about about 3 1/2" square.

You can go on the Walthers web site and download the illustrated instructions for the assembly of the station.

I built it some time ago, and it takes up a fair amount of space even without consideration of the covered platforms.

Other than reversing the entire structure, I do not think that you could easily reverse the left and right wings of the structure without some serious kit bashing.
