Hey Everyone
I remember a while back, about a Engine House of Walthers of pics being shown of the lighting, does anyone know where that topic is? I searched for it, but can not find it.
Thanks

ummmmmmmmmm good luck with that. No one around here seems to give a rat’s *** about anything anymore.

Sounds like you might thinking about this thread where a couple of people discuss and illustrate how they added interior lighting to the Walthers Diesel Shop kit:
Not sure if you meant the old or new Walthers engine house. But here’s what I did. I took two 12 volt bulbs, with the long wire leads. Glue them to the underside of the roof. Do not glue the bulb directly to the plastic roof. Put a dab of rubber cement on the wires, about 1/8 inch back from the bulb. When dry, bent the bulb down a little, so it’s not touching the plastic roof. Run the wires down the roof and the wall, between the windows, tacking the wire down with rubber cement, here and there. Rubber cement allows easy replacement when the bulb burns out. Drill a hole in the layout near the wall and run the wires through. You know the rest. Be sure and add a fuel dock somewhere near the engine house. A couple Walthers platform lights, and some workers complete the scene.
If you are talking about the brick roundhouse, they were typically very dimmly lit with Edison bulbs. There was a reason roundhouses had white interiors and lots of windows.
If you want to light them, I recommend Minatronics 12V grain of wheat bulbs with the long tail. Commonly available from Walther’s or Loyd’s Toys. They are extremely low current and can be connected with very thin 24AWG wire. I use Miniatronics 4 wire switch turnout wire and strip the wire into two-wiring sets of 2 lines each. It’s easy to place, glue, hide and is painted black.
any tips on painting or weather this kit? as well, any more pics
