Walthers Gold Line CSX Ballast Hopper 3-Pack-Absolutely Gone!

I am looking for the Walthers Gold Line 3-pack of CSX ballast hoppers. But that is not what this thread is about.

I heard about Walthers release of these, and before I could get a set, they disappeared. Now they’re nowhere. Not even on eBay. Luckily, I have the set they released long ago. But those have disappeared as well. I must ask, why is it that items like this tend to disappear quicker than say a set of BN ballast hoppers? It seems strange, because the CSX’s are the only one’s that are not in stock at Walthers. I stand corrected, they were, as I just checked, and it seems MILW, CN, CP, and a few others are now gone. But for sure, the CSX’s were the first to go.

Hopefully the CSX Difco Dump Cars won’t go this quickly.

I think CSX is actually gaining popularity with modellers. I too model CSX in present time, and I’m having a heck of a time finding rolling stock, locos, etc.

www.firsthobby.com has the Walthers CSX Ballast Hoppers for 63.99.

heres a csx side dump difco car on ebay

only 2 bucks!!!

I’m just curious (not to hijack the thread) but how often do you really see those Difco side dump cars in real life? I’ve NEVER seen one. What are they used for also? Come to think of it, I just saw two regular gondolas in a train last week, first gondolas of any kinda I’ve ever seen out here in real life, and I’ve been railfanning for years! Hoppers of all kinds (woodchip, ballast, aggregate, and coal) are really common, but I rarely see gondolas on the Atlanta-Augusta line.

i see difcos all the time i saw a string on 10 of them last week go through on a mixed frieght, i see all the time in Kansas!

I see difcos just about every day. If there isn’t one waiting for repair(Bad Order), then they’re using one for maintainence.

64 bucks? MAN! The retail at Walthers was only $40!

rrtrains is out to but they are much cheaper in price only 48 bucks for a 3 pack

Ohh…

Dumb me.
I though we were talkin’ about the hoppers. I’ve got both numbers of the old Difco Dump Car kits. I used to have almost every piece of CSX MOW equipment avalible. Then I sold all the “fantasy” items on eBay and made a fortune. About $80 total(seperate auctions, different weeks)for 2 MOW box cars and 2 MOW flat cars. And 1 of each had broken stirrups!

what will you be lsiting on ebay next?

I don’t know for sure, I won’t talk about it much on here, as I do not want this forum to be killed. If you would like for me to e-mail you, I would be glad to.

I’ve got the CP Rail Gold Line Ballast Hopper 3 pack for only 39.95 Canadian. Its probably harder to find then the CSX versions.

Since I’m from the Southeast US and have no idea how to translate Canadian dollars to US dollars…about how much is that in US moo-lah?

One US dollar is worth about $1.21 Canadian dollars.

I’m not trying to sound rude here or anything, but reserving items before they come out helps a whole lot. You might want to try that next time. The CSX Difcos aren’t in yet so you still could reserve them. And according to the Walthers website, the CSX Ballast cars have an expected arrival date of “Unknown”. So however unlikley it is, they may end up back in stock sometime.

Speaking of what’s real and not, are there any good websites or other reference material that happens to list or show the composition of real trains? There are plenty of pictures out there of locos for any given region, but I rarely ever seen references to the freight/cars included with the trains. So I can easily model a prototypical area with respect to locos, but what freight or other cars are included?
