Walther’s HO modular structure system is easy to use

Great System!

I have built a couple of buildings from these kits and find them easy to kit bash and use with other building kits and parts such as Evergreen or Plastruct parts. I am very impressed with the ease of assemply and the templates they include are helpful in planning. These are great kits that I think will do well in late steam or early transition periods and will also look good on modern layouts if aged properly. I had good results with Testors glue for assembly. For aging I used Testors flat black paint diluted with paint thinner. I dabbed the solution on the walls and modified it some to add a grimey look and the results were impressive.

I have found Walther’s Modular structure system to be an excellent way to get exactly the building you want. If you watch for sales, you can get most packages for about half the list price. Even so, it is expensive to get all the parts you want. I have found myself needing “just one more” of a certain part several times and having to order a whole kit to get it. However, once you have built a few structures, you will have a good sense for what is possible. I also use sheet styrene for floors in multi-story buildings to avoid looking into a window and seeing down to the story below. The system easily accommodates that. Overall, if you are not satisfied with stock structures, then the modular system is the way to go. When you are done, you will have a huge stash of extra parts for kitbashing.

I am new to modular building. I do not understand reference to ‘pilaster’ Can not fine them anywhere. Bought several different packages. No pilasters. Do they come seperate??? Help
