Overall these cars present themselves very well on display in a full train on a good layout or shelf. They are priced a bit hi for the level of detail and no lighting. For extra cost, Walthers offers a good lighting system for either DC or DCC that fits right in and connects to the already installed factory electrical connectors. These cars run very smooth and track very well. The new releases are including factory installed grab irons. I own several of Walthers passenger cars and they are nice. Rapido and Broadway cars are lighted with more detail but it is hard to find better runners than Walthers. I prefer the better runners.

Too expensive!

I finally managed to obtain this excellent car from Toy Train Heaven. Everyone else that Walthers had shipped this car to was sold out long ago. The car is beautiful and was discounted by this seller. The car was painted in Union Pacific colors in 1954 and was reverted back to PRR color of Tuscan Red in 1956/1957. The car was used in Transcontinental Service, and was carried on the PRR on their Pennsylvania Limited consists. The PRR had two cars painted as such; Tippercanoe Rapids and Stoney Creek Rapids. Decals are provided for both cars in the box. Union Pacific had 4 cars of their own for this transcontinental service. By far, this is one of Walthers passenger cars, where research was excellent, and I am pleased with this addition to my PRR/NYC/NH model railroad. Looks like a great operating car, and will fit nicely on my New York to Chicago trains.
