Walthers HO scale Geeps

I have an earlier run of proto 2000 gp7 on my layout. I like the extremely slow start speed and dead quiet operation. (I do not have sound on board)

Nice looking locomotive, only one problem, the TP&W didn’t roster any GP9’s. They had two GP7’s, #'s 102-103. So the TP&W roadname listed for a GP9 phase III unit is incorrect. Otherwise, the Proto 2000 locomotives are by far the best on the market.

super unit, runs very well, close to proto type

I am extremely pleased with this unit. The sound is great and the locomotive runs true to form. May get another one.

This unit has the best sound ever. At our operating sessions, we use several different manufacturers engines. The Proto 2000 GP7 sound really stands out above the others.

very nice engine

If this baby came in a PRR selection I would have a couple of them

Surprised by the low drawbar pull. Looking for at least 3.5 oz to handle my needs. Any way the drawbar pull can be increased (weight, changing drive wheels?).

I am verry impressed by this loco. I have DM&E 1463 and I love it! It runs and sounds great I like the horn that sounds verry good to me. Thank you Walthers for another great model.

These latest GPs run well and sound great. I wonder____ are earlier shells interchangeable with these current diesel bodies? If so, one could simply buy one, change out the body shells and have their favorite prototype with DCC & sound. It is easy to then sell the previous “used” DC mechanism in the newer body, telling the Buyer it is a “used” DC-only locomotive of course. JMTC

Great locomotive. I changed out shell to my Proto 2000 phase 2 Great Northern. Had to grind the light bar down to fit, but not hard with dremel tool (just be careful and I put some electrical tape in the shell to protect the details). Great runner, fantastic sound.
Wish Walther’s would sell just the chassis so I could change out a couple more units.
