Walthers HO scale Superliner II passenger cars

I Really liked these cars because they can be used on any layout. and can be lit up on the inside with a kit.

These cars are spectacular and extremely accurate. I believe Walthers stated though that the interior lighting kits only light up the top level, it would be nice to have both levels lit as well as have a painted interior, but other than that I really like my Superliners and hope to acquire more real soon along with P42s in Phase V.

Their great looking cars? but, for the price that’s kinda high. I got my phase 2, superliners 1 just here lately( 4 or 5 months ago) all 5 cars, at different times. For no more than $25.00 each, paying $50 bucks for the new ones each :frowning: If you’re into the new ones that’s OK ! I still think the older ones look just as good?

I have seen these cars and I feel the MSRP price is consistant with other manufactures available. Most retailers have sales periodically so be patient when purchasing and you will find good sales on all manufactures rolling stock. It is up to the buyer to decide. like most passenger cars these days, the Walthers are a nice balance between detail and function. Walthers has done a great job of applying detail where it is most important and more trouble free operation than other similar products available at this time. I also like that Walthers tends to have more availability of products than other manufactures. I would like to see LED lighting included for the price on future releases to stay more consistant with current market trends.

I really like these cars the details are very good and perfomance fantastic especially on really broad curves. A must if you are modling the west coast or auto train. About the price some big train store always offer deals so look and be patient.

Just purchased the latest Walthers SuperLiner cars and love the look and detail. Close coupling is another added bonus but they do have a flaw, extremely high drag wheel-sets. As a comparison I also own the Hiawatha set from Walthers and they roll extremely well for weight and detail. However, the Hiawathas with only a six car consist can really test the draw of many locos. I usually pull with a single Athearn and it pulls them but with considerable slip up a 1.8% grade. Another comparison is I also own the KATO SuperLiners and they roll much better but I hate their factory KATO couplers. Happy railroading! Jeff

I am completely satisfied with these models and Walthers has certainly raised the bar. The wheel problems were solved with conducta-lube and believe it or not, these cars have tracked better on my narrower curves than the originals that I still own.

The quality of these cars has caused me to purchase a bunch of these cars. My count is currnetly at 17 (and growing). All but one of the cars was purchased at a good deal. The MSRP is worth it but I wouldn’t want it to go any higher than what it is currently (it originally started out at $49.98)

This is by far the best Amtrak model Walthers has produced. I was a little worried about the finish, but when I saw the models in person, I was blown away. Some say the finish is too dark, well Walthers got the PERFECT finish because…
