Pros and cons? Best for using on Peco Electrofrogs?
Pre made wiring harnesses for the Walthers system was a selling point for me. I haven’t yet installed them. No doubt these servo motor systems prefer no spring in the throwbar although Walthers claims their motors are strong enough to overcome those springs.
Peco’s motor and mechanical polarity switch combination should not be overlooked. They have a new twistlock mounting system (orange colour) which works well. Peco twin solenoid motors are rock solid reliable. I also like their passing contact actuating switches.
I have only used Tortoises for 20+ years, and everyone I know uses them also.
The Walthers system looks fine, but I will stick with the proven product that has been around forever and everyone is familiar with. The Walthers system does not offer enough advantages to make me consider a switch.
