Hi,
I was wondering which era the Walthers Cornerstone track bumpers (part no 933-2605) are appropriate for? My layout features a yard on a class 1 railroad in the mid-1950s, and I was wondering if these would be appropriate for this era/setting?
Thanks in advance,
tbdanny
I saw and photographed bumpers just about like this when I visaited Mexico City Buenavista Station in 1974. They were on the ends of passenger platform tracks that stub-ended at the station concourse. Maybe I should order some for the passenger station on my “Island Seaport” layout (based on Galveston, Texas) which has stub-end platform tracks.
I can also see them on stub-end tracks at a major freight station, though I don’t have an immediate example in mind.
Somewhat less so for most industrial sidings and yard tracks. I remember some industrial spurs near where I grew up in Houston, that ended in a pile of dirt or a pile of old ties. Most yard tracks on a class 1 railroad in the 1950s should probably be double-ended, though most of we modelers don’t have room to do it.
Just my experience…
