Walthers N Scale Well Cars

I saw a 5 unit articulated set and a 3 unit standalone set at the LHS the other day and they looked really nice, unfortunately I didn’t have time to really get a close look at them. Has anyone used these? Do they require much work, or are they good just as they come? Thanks for any comments.

I have them, they track well, they are made of metal, the detail is a little over sized but beat the pants off the con-cor stuff, which is about the weight of a feather. I have about 10 of the Walthers cars. Only draw back for me is they are container well cars only, not multi-purpose like the CC ones, so trailers aren’t able to ride in them (properly)

They are worth the $$, I put MT trucks on them.

I wondered about the trucks. Good to know, thanks.

The trucks are standard rapido type, so if you are doing MT couplers and trucks, you would want to switch them out. I just tried to find the link about someone that has a how to on making major detail changes to bring them in line with a better look. I think it’s either N Scale of Nevada. BLMA or Alan Curtis that has a kit for these and the other well cars out.

I’ll have to try to track that down.
