Walthers - Please note

The newest paper service boxcars (February MR, page 29) are also listed on their web site. The following description is from the web page:

“This HO Scale Gold Line freight car comes fully assembled and includes a complete set of add-on wire grab irons; molded drill starter points on the body simplify installation.”

I don’t understand why Walthers doesn’t get it. Fully assembled means Fully Assembled. That doesn’t include a bag of parts to be installed by the modeler, with or without drill starter points. Start installing the grabs irons like Athearn, Atlas, Intermountain etc. If you can’t manage that, then at least stop using the term “fully assembled” when the cars are not.

It’s not just those cars. Quite a few of their passenger cars are like that too. I know for a fact that the PRR B60b baggage needs to have grabs installed.

I think the reason they call it “fully assembled” is that for the most part, it is. Quite a few newbies will be happy to run it without the grabs.

they are molded on the gold series equipment in plastic…the extra parts means that you have to cut off the plastic molded parts and add the metal ones…they are ready to run, just that the plastic grab irons / foot sturrips verion is out of scale…cutting off the plastic stuff and adding the metal parts brings them into a more realistic, detailed, scale…chuck

I thought RTR stood for Ready to Rebuild.[:D]
