Walthers Round house track

i have the Newer Walthers round house, my question is how do i put track into it? It has groves cut into the floor, do i cut up some of my Flex track? and what kind Of glue would i use to glue the track to the plastic with? thanks for any info.

What do the instructions say? Can you use code 100 or 83? If you only need a few rails, cut the ties of flex track. I’ve done that for several projects. For the roundhouse you only need to remove the ties that are inside the roundhouse and not the section that runs to the turntable pit. Unless you plan on hand laying rail on the rest of the layout, It’s a lot cheaper than buying a 33 piece pack of three foot rail for 40 or 50 bucks. The turntable pit should be installed before you lay any track for the roundhouse. For the glue I use Pilobond which is a contact cement. Pliobond can be thinned 50/50 with a liquid plastic solvent type glue (Plaststruct and Testors come with a brush). When the bottle of liquid solvent glue is half full, fill it up with Pliobond (available at hardware stores). You can use Pilobond straight out of the tube also, but it’s thick and you get a lot of strands. Walthers Goo will also work.
Don’t forget you also need to power those rails too.

i will be using code 83, i will be taking it off some of the Flex track i have, how ever how do I glue metal to plastic? Superglue?

I have used super glues (thin and thick) to bond plastic to metal but super glue is tricky to use. I managed to glue me finger to my ear once. Have some de-bonder on hand if using acc glues. Be sure to wear safety goggles especially when using super thin acc glue. The first time you poke a hole in the spout it may squirt out.
