Walthers track cleaning car.

I picked one of these up at the show and was wondering what you owners do to clean the pad? I tried Goof Off and it didn’t seem to like that. It seemed to soften up the glue on the stone and made it sticky like an eraser till it dried.
PS-This is the one I’m talking about.

Try a very fine sandpaper or emery cloth. It looks similar to the type that uses masonite pads to clean the track and that’s how we clean ours at the club.

4or5 passes with a bright boy cleans mine

I use an electronic one wired in to my main lines-it’s no good for DCC tho’,apparently it fries decoders!

windex or alcohol, and a paper towel will take the crud off the pad.

Walthers had the repalcement pads on sale last year & I picked up a few. The pad seems to be like a brightboy, & I figure it’s just as cheap to replace as to clean!! Like spending $8 on chemicals to clean a $2.99 paint brush!![:D]

Thanks! The alcohol worked good. The car works pretty good. The only thing I don’t like is it looks like it’s only 3/4 size. It looks too small next to another box car.
