I will be getting the walthers (HO) transfer table soon. I was looking at the manual, and it says you have to bevel the rails that line up to the tracks.
How do I bevel the rails? I’ve never done this before.
Thanks,
Michael

As David mentions, a file is one way to do it. A Dreme
Still don’t understand. Do I file the end of the rails to a point? So it’s only the height of the rails that I need to match up?
You should file or bevel the inner portion of the rail to almost a point (width wise) to allow for slight mis-alignments in the positioning of the transfer table. You might also bevel the transfer tracks if needed, but not likely. You might also need to file the tops of the entrance and exit rails to get them flush with the Transfer table. Due ALL filing of the rail tops ONLY on the entrance and exit tracks, NOT the transfer table tracks.

Pretty much yes you file the inside of the rail to a point but not an abrupt one so there is there is a little wiggle room when and if the rails of the transfer table don’t line up exactly with the tracks in the structures and the lead in track. I’m sure they will provide you with an illustration in the instructions but if you still don’t get it go look at a turnout and take notice of the switch rail (the ones that move) notice how they taper down to almost nothing same principal applies to what they want you to do. Do a Google image search on tapering rails
Thanks! You guys are awesome. What would I do without you experts!!
Here is what it should look like. Note that in the case of the Walthers turntables, the built-up and indexed ones, they did the bevelling for us. I had to bevel the bay rails, as you can see.
