I just have to share this since we hear so much negative things on line.
Here a praise…
I placed a on line order with Walthers on June 26th and received my order in todays(6/30) mail.
IMHO that is a quick turn around.
Nothing like excellent service…
With all due respect to both you and Walthers “once in a row does not constitute a trend”.
When items are marked in stock, their shipping is really great!
I once placed an oder mid-day, as I had plans for the following day & “thought” it would arrive on the day after… Well, I must have hit the magic, it was on the front steps when I got back!!!
They filled & shipped it the same day, I got it next day, & I almost had a heart attack when I got home.
However, it let my projects done to appear in WPF 2 days later!
If I need it now, I will always consider Walthers, none of that ‘perhaps, maybe in a week’ shipping, if you put in a bigger order, it will be right there, right now. At least in my experience.
They have a great processing & shipping dept. I can only think of one other company that is that good & they are not a model railroading distributor.
However, the backorder items come parcel post, & they (as perhaps smaller orders) do take a week +1 day to get to me. Not a problem as I can track it, from their site.
Over all I give them an A+

And that has been my experience on many, many occasions.

If the item is in stock on the shelves, any place can have quick shipping practices.
It is when the item is “available” or Coming from another place to the seller to resend off to the customer that is a problem.
Right now I think is a lull in the shipping season, expect longer delays the closer we get to Christmas!
Kudos to Walthers though.

Walthers is at the mercy of their suppliers, which is is most instances small mom and pop industries. Hard to create a catalog knowing which one of those suppliers may not be able to keep up with the demand, but you have to give them credit for having faith. [C=:-)]

Indeed…IIRC Klein was running 3-4 days behind filling orders during the Christmas rush last year.This outfit can have a fast turn around as well-in my case three days was the fastest from order to arrival and that was by USPS priority mail.That still remains the record.
