want to add sound to my steam engine.....

I bought a used tender from ebay, and the air whistle no longer works.
I’m working on a Chrismass layout that I plan to use with my Polar
Expresse set, but I dont want to modify the stock tender. Dose anyone
make a replacment for the whistle to go into the tender. Something like
liones railsound, that dose not require some type of controler. I still run
my trains with an kw, or zw transformer.

There are several vendors you might contact via e-mail.

www.digitdynam.com

All three carry all kinds of upgrades that should meet your requirements.

You could also try Dallee Electronics.

Are you sure the whistle is beyond repair?

no, it just needs to be rewired…but its giving me a good excuse
to change the whistle[:D]

I just got my chuff switches in stock, and my steam version of the Sound Commander is now gererally available. Really a nice card, featuring a 4 cadence chuff, whistle, bell, blow-down; with brake compressor and steam hiss at idle. I ran it for a major supplier of Steamers, and they were surprised how good it sounded. Made me feel good about the product.

which unit would you recomend to replace the air whistle with?
I’m going to use it with my 2055 steam loco. I like the idea of using the
reed switch at the tender for the chug signal.
