Try being a Carman , you would be taught to inspect and repair railcars . No skill is required you just have to be willing to learn .

cool how r these jobs normally found, inspect train cars, is thta like cleaning :frowning:

Cleaning?

You want to DRIVE the train.

Car Inspectors are very important to the railroad. Everyone who does a task working for a railroad is important no matter what thier station. There has to be one Boss and there can only be one to drive the train.

There is always cleaning. =)

You could work as a Tender, sanding, watering, fueling and cleaning the engines and making them ready for the next crew. If you do it right, you might earn the right to drive the engine for very short distances.

The Class one railroads still hire carmen , but alot of this work is going to contractors , like Progress rail Srevices , TTX , and Road & Rail .

As a carman you sometimes have to clean rail cars , but most of us inspect inbound and out bound trains and make the repairs .

Are you from Melbourne, or Cleveland?
