A few years ago photos of NREX #9402 were floating around every forum on the web! Since I haven’t heard anyone mention her lately I was wondering if she had been put out to pasture or was still out there roaming the rails.[:D]

It appears the hood section is all moved forward, that back porch is rediculously long. What is the story with this unit?
Former SD45-2 downgraded to an SD40-2, but on the same frame. Comments on one site indicate portions of the hood are from another locomotive.
The oversized “porch” is simply space that wasn’t needed for the new prime mover, etc. No sense cutting down the frame - just leave it open!

It is a former SD45T-2. The SD45-2 and SD40-2 have the same frame.
Interesting, but the most awkward looking thing I have ever seen. Looks like its center of balance would be totally messed up. Good modeling on that site though.
