I’d like to join a railroad operating session at a home (or club) layout somewhere in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
I’m in my 50s and I tore down my last layout ten years ago. Now that my kids are almost gone, I’m beginning planning a new layout. Operations will be a focus of the new pike and I’d like to learn as much as I can about how others do it before I get too far along.
I’m willing to work any position and my time is pretty flexible.
Have you considered joining the Op Sig of the NMRA? If not, at least look at joining the chat group on Yahoo. There are some really nice layouts in your area, and knowing some of these people you’ll really enjoy yourself.
I live too far in the country to join a club and my new layout is going to be a challenge in which i’m going to need some help in operating the entire layout if the entire layout is to operate all at once…I’m really thinking about starting a club at my house because once it’s built, the layout is going to be so big that i don’t think i can handle it all at one time by myself…Chuck[:D]
Be carefull what you say as I only live 75 miles from you and I’m looking for a bigger layout to run on. My layout is 13’ X 15’ around the wall and my train length is limited to about 14 cars. I was hoping that you were going to be on the San Jac “Fall Model Railroad Tour” with Jeff and Gorden, I got my schedule yesterday at Papa Ben’s and I see that you aren’t listed. I’ve read so many of your posts that I’m really courtious as to how your layout looks.
I go up and help Steve Barkley with his layout. We all get together on Tuesday nights and his is a dream to operate on.
Ya’ll have a blessed day and remember SANTA FE ALL THE WAY
