Wanted: Pics of old Lakeland Fla Train Station

I saw it in one of my ACL books (small picture). Was on the ACL line, probably built in the 30’s-50’s. Tried Google but I keep getting Russia. Looking for a modernish depot to model for a diorama. B&W ok.

I’ve found some pictures online, it’s still standing. The only part I need is the right half and right side from the street.

It was built in 1960 and served the ACL and SCL until the new station was built. It’s now on the CSX line.

Updated request ^^^^

I will be moving down in that area (sort of) next month. If you don’t have what you are looking for by then I will be more than happy to take all the pics you need. As long as the building is still standing.

Go to google.com, select images and enter the search for lakeland and train. The second page of results has a link to this site and they have a photo of the first station. There may be others, I didn’t check further back. www.lakelandgov.net

It’s about a 20-25 minute drive from my house to the old Lakeland station along U.S 92. May be a while, but on my next trip out there I’ll be sure to take photos. I’ll send you a message in your PM box.

Thanks Antonio, I’m always on the lookout for boxy-Bauhaus looking buildings especially from the 60’s (because they’re actually quite easy to model) and that one caught my eye. I incorrectly ID’d it as ST Petersburgh in my first post.

About twenty seconds of searching on Google Images came up with a website of the government of Lakeland - one of the best local government websites I have ever seen in terms of laying out local history with tons of photos and information!

It has this image

This image shows the north end of the park and the train depot. It is not the depot built by Abraham Munn to lure the railroad to Lakeland. That depot had been destroyed in one of the many fires that plagued the city in its early years. The depot pictured here was also destroyed by fire.
