wanted polly scale paints.

I’m looking for Polly scale coat engine black, it’s hard too find these colors sence the company got ridd of these paints. Anyone know where I could get a few bottles of engine black or someone willing to sell some please let me know thank you.

Haven’t tried them yet myself, but supposedly color matched to PollyScale:

MicroLux Engine Black

Only problem is the consistency. It is pre-thinned to airbrush straight from the bottle. So I’m betting too thin to brush paint with it. The ability to brush paint was a big plus that Polly Scale used to have.

Another option that I have seen is Model Master 1747, which is a Gloss Black. (This is according to the chart that Microscale has released for color conversions. I have not tried this myself.)

Edit: Sorry southwest chief. Just caught your link.

Black is black. Engine black is just another name for plain black. Ceramcoat or other craft shop acrylic blacks are the right color. They come plenty thick, I usually thin them 50-50 for brush painting. I don’t paint my steamers with engine black, instead I use Krylon or Rustoleum dark gray auto primer in a rattle can. Its flat, it sticks to metal, and real steamers were coated with dark gray coal soot shortly after leaving the wash rack.

LION buys paint at Wallmart or Hobby Lobby. Cheap, lotsa colors,

You want to match a RR color? Well pishaw on you, the railroad would like to match the railroad color too, but weather takes its toll, and so nothing ever looks like it ever looked.
