Wanted: Rivorossi,Tyco E7 or other model E7

Hello all,

My son is a late bloomer model rr…He has developed a fondness for CB&Q passenger trains… He’s lookig for an E7A unit…If anyone on here knows where I might get an E 7 by Rivorossi or Tyco or even Varney please tell me where I could get one…Iv looked on "You know what " and there arent any…

Try Walthers as they make and distribute E7 units. Trainworld in New York is another place to check. If there is a model train show or swapmeet in your area check there.

I recomend the Proto 2000 line by Walthers if you want a quality locomotive. Model Power once made E-7a units but that was a long time ago. The Tyco E7 isn’t correct and the drive is junk.

If you’re doing an online search, keep in mind its Rivarossi and not Rivorossi. Helps when you look for the correct word!

As far as I know, Rivarossi never made an E7, but they did make an E8. Both Tyco and Model Power/Roco’s E7s weren’t available in CB&Q, and the only one I know of so far that is is the Proto 2000 E7 (which is excellent, BTW). Any others would have to be custom painted, but since the main color is silver, custom painting shouldn’t be hard if you’ve got a good set of decals to go with it.[:D] Another option is to get an undecorated metal E7 body by Cary/Bowser, and put it on your choice of any E-unit drive (Rivarossi, Hobbytown, Model Power), except for Tyco’s.

Thanks for all the help guys,I didnt even think about TW and It does help when you spell correctly HA !

Danny, the Proto 2000 E unit was a beautiful model. I am guessing that they were released about 2000 or 2001, perhaps earlier. They were available in the CB&Q silver with either the red or black nose stripe. It has real heft, runs really smoothly and has good detail. It will make you sick as you are looking now, but back when I got mine, they had over produced them and they were being dumped on the market. I got one for $37.00!

Hopeless shot really, but this is the only one I could find with mine in view
