Ok, I’ll bite. Why that particular locomotive? There are many better F3s produced in all scales.
I’ve always wanted a NP/GN/SP&S Z6 Challenger. W&R made a really great looking one a few years back. I’ve had the opportunity to buy quite a few (PFM versions) but have never gone through with it for one reason or another. Plus even if I had one I have no idea what I would do with it - too valuable to run at the club, and static displays aren’t too much fun.
you could do what (some) museums do and put the loco on track that is just out of guage, and then put rollers under the drivers to support it (and supply power).
It’s still stationary, but at least you get to watch the running gear move…
Thats kinda what we (the Lake Superior Railroad Museum) did with our former DMIR 2-8-8-4 Yellowstone. We jacked it up and now the drivers turn with anrration every 20 minutes. O yea, its REAL scale too. : ]
I have always wanted to own a Brass DMIR 2-8-8-4 Yellowstone.
