Well for the last week I have been thinking of fishing. Everytime I think of doing soething such as lubing the Trains I get side tracked and go lube the reel gears. If I think about wiring I thinkg of relining my reels so I guess for the time being I’m gonna be away from trains till I get the fishing tackle, and poles ready and I get one day of fishing in (not an ice fisherman) I may take time out tho and do some mring but we will have to see.
It’s ok to get away from the hobby for awhile. Keeps a person from getting “burnout.” I feverishly work on my railroad during the Fall and Winter but when Spring and Summer get here, I find it hard to get a lot done on the railroad. Too much grass to mow, vacation, fishing trips, and honey do’s in the yard usually keep me out of the train room during this time. I really don’t mind though because when i do get back to the trains it’s more fun than ever…chuck
Look on the bright side – at least you won’t have to deal with the negative effects of track expansion
I’ve got things planned that I’d rather not do inside because of the chemical odors, so the option of sitting out on the deck on a warm, sunny day with some freight cars, an old paintbrush, a package of Instant Rust and a beer is very appealing. Just gotta remember to check what’s in my hand before I drink it.
Let’s see - there’s also the Bragdon foam for the cliffs around the bay, and the latex moldmaking for the hexagonal cobblestones. Gotta fire up the lobster cooker, too…
Still trying to remember what warm is , Happy first day of spring, 26 degrees and not getting much warmer here today. Sun is out though, I guess thats a plus.
I had jaw surgery last Wednesday, so even though the weather is getting nicer, and my motorcycle is calling me, I’m kind of stuck doing light duty things here around the house. I’m supposed to do no heavy lifting for another 6 weeks, so that will leave out any of the outside work that still needs done. At least I finally started on my Bowser Challenger though!
I can relate. For me, it is golf not fishing that takes me away from the layout. That, and outdoor projects around the house that can only be done in warmer weather. That’s why my layout work is confined primarily to the late fall and winter months. The golf season is about to begin and I am hoping to wrap up the MR projects I have going on now before that happens. I’ve vowed that this summer, I am going to spend at least a few hours every week on the layout. We’ll see how that works out.
Well here in sunny balmy Michigan, it’s trash day. It took me longer to get the layers on than to carry the trash can to the curb! Don’t forget the thermals, and the review of the Frost Bite section of the First Aid Manual.
I have never been a fisherman, must have something to do with childhood memories of cubes of bread on a hook at the pond when my mother tried to introduce men to fishing. Or was it the ten foot shark I pulled up in Port Jefferson Harbor sitting in an eight foot boat, to the howls of laughter from my father?
I am looking forward to the tulips raising there heads, and the continuing clickty clack of metal wheels over rail joints. Bring on the dreaded curse of track expansion. I love a challenge!

I guess most of us have other interests. We camp or I should say RV from March / April to November.
The upcoming weekend I’ll be de-winterizing the camper getting ready for our first trip to Myrtle Beach in the middle of April.
I’ve already been warned of what my priorities are, and model railroading wasn’t one of them!

As mentioned above, the pull of outside projects is beginning. This year we’re painting the house. But when the temperature and humidity outside reach 90, it’s time to head for the basement, so there is rr’ing going on year 'round in this house.

I only work on my layout in the winter months. Come spring I hardly touch it until winter comes again. I’m out fishing, ATVing or working on or going to car shows with my Trans Am almost every weekend. Add working around the house and that just doesn’t leave any time for MRing. I still go to shows and to the club though.
Mr b yourjust mean talking about Lobster cooking send some my way when you start.
