Was on forum last nite and answered a post ( my dads stupid ), now that post is gone and I have an email box full of junk under simular post ( ie my dads a money freak ), also something thys to download when I go to look at the post in the mailbox, not site, don’t know who to report this breach of security to.
I better go check my mailbox, then.
Mail checked, no junk. Just my Bowser newsletter and a letter from my girl in Russia. The usual stuff.
Apparently the moderator, Bergie, got rid of those posts (thank you, Bergie!) … sounds like you had notify turned on (its a button at the top of the thread – click it to turn notify off).
If you need to send an email to Bergie, just send it to:
“Erik Bergstrom” <Ebergstrom@kalmbach.com>
did you answer to post i was relating to last nite.
rrebell … HUH? Your posting makes no sense. Please write complete sentences, and explain yourself so we can figure out what on earth you are trying to say. And if you have a forum issue, tell Bergie.
Otherwise, talking to us will get you nowhere, cuz we’re just guessing.
Sorry but I did forward the bad posts to eric, Now that I am calmed down I will explain it better. Last nite I was on this forum and answered, as did others this post from a kid about how his dad wouldn’t give him the money he wanted for some train purchaces. This morning I go cheak my email and it is filled with simular post, none seams to tie into the forum and as soon as you look at it, it starts to download something. Now I am on dialup so downloads take time and was able to stop them but for others who knows and also who knows what it was trying to download, could be a worm or worse. There, did I do better, noit the way I expected my morning to start out!!!
I can’t find any evidence that it tried to download anything to my system. If it had been a virus or worm, my virus protection program and my firewall would have gone nuts.
The young man who started the thread edited his main topic, and it was on the forum this morning. I replied to him as well as several others, giving him more fatherly advice. Now, I see that the thread has been removed, I assume by Bergie. My email is fine so far, but I have considerable protection on my system. Folks who don’t have anti virus programs, or, not updated, could be flirting with disaster
No garbage in my Inbox, either. My spam-filter box has just the standard pharmaceutical rubbish.
The 2 threads you were referring to were actually the same thread. The author re-titled the “stupid” thread, which was certainly an improvement. I hope railroadboy grew up a bit as a result. If some dag-nabbed spammer attached himself to the thread, then obviously rrboy isn’t the only one who has some growing up to do.
Well he has the right name in railroad - boy. I was going to suggest he do without food, cell phone or the internet for a month to get the money. I’d probably be reported to child services for curel and unusual punishment. I am reminded of the old adage, “Young adults and teens. Why not leave home while you still know everything and have it so bad. I’m sure the others in your family would appreciate your thoughtfullness”…
My protection is old as I run windows 98, need a new computer but have other prioritys. That type of stuff has always been stoped by yahoo but I guess not this time.
I use Windows 98SE myself. My virus protection an dfirewall is from Defender Pro, which automatically updates itself every 3 hours. The program files are up to date as of 15 minutes ago.
My daughter did that at 15 – went clear across the country and we didn’t hear from her for two years. We were heartsick but she figured she could do it better on her own. She came back a couple years later and basically begged us to let her come back home. She was a much wiser and better behaved girl and at 28 is now happily married to a great guy, has three kids and is doing wonderfully.
She takes every oppotunity to tell us she’s grateful we were still there for her and can’t believe she was so “insane” to do what she did by running off like that. She has a real raport with teen girls and every chance she gets she tells them to not be stupid like she was.
Kinda made it all worth it, even though that was a very hard time for us – especially for my wife.
Smells like trolling to me…
JOE: I can’t imagine the anguish that you and your wife experienced!! Thankfully, she had the good sense to return home, and that was a credit to good parents…
