I would appreciate feedback as I was amazed when one of my posts “disappeared.” I questioned whether MRR ever gave a product a bad review. No name calling, no vulgarity, no anger. I never thought I did anything offensive. I never “flame” people and do not write about topics unrelated. I don’t use profanity. I certainly never meant to write anything that would cause my fellow users to lose the forum. Was I wrong?
It could be that your thread was caught in the troll cleanup.
I remember reading your post, and I don’t remember anything that might beconsidered proscribed language or behavior.
But the best way to be sure, probably, is to e-mail Bergie himself and politely ask what the problem was.
How do I e-mail Bergie? Is his email address posted somewhere on this sight?
Find “Members” in the blue line toward the top of this page and look through the "B"s and you can E-Mail him from his Profile. Share if you will his reply so we can all be more aware of our transgressions if any.
Will
Here’s his e-mail address:
To be honest I think we should leave Bergie alone for awhile, the dude is probably getting a little fed up with everybody emailing him all the time, I know I would be by now. Probably what happened was somebody posted something stupid in your thread so Bergie deleted the whole thing. Or maybe he accidentally pushed the wrong button while cleaning up the forum, who knows.
Not that I disagree with your point because I responded to the topic myself, but I guess it might be bad protocol to post such a topic in regards to the publisher who is hosting the forum. And I don’t think that it was trolling, just voicing an opinion.[:)]
MR’s reveiws are usually fair, they will tell you what may be wrong with details, paint, lettering, etc, letting buyer beware.
I’m sure MR didn’t delete the thread because of your comments. I’ve seen far less complementary things posted, and they keep those in there. After all, a healthy exchange of ideas is good for everyone, and I’m sure they do some soul-searching about any reasonable complaints they find here.
MR is in the business of pleasing its customers. They have to be responsive. They aren’t like the Registry of Motor Vehicles, where you have to put up with them because they’re the only game in town. Besides that, we need to remember that they have to show a profit, or they will go under. That’s tough if the market is declining, as many of us think it is.
Along those lines, I was talking with Gerry at my LHS the other day. We were discussing the proliferation of train show and open house layout announcements. It seems that since MR stopped carrying the printed “Current Events” listing, more and more shows and open houses have gone to printing fliers and distributing them through LHS’s. To me, that’s a great thing for everyone. The LHS takes on a more central role in the hobby, and everyone benefits. Back when everyone (including me) was moaning about the loss of that magazine feature, nobody mentioned this new development. So, remember that some clouds have nickel-silver linings.
Why not repost and let us respond? If, as you fear, your post was not appreciated by MR staff, and if they were inclined to tell you so, you would know in spades by now.
Let’s hear your point again.
OK. I’ll try again.
Well I reposted this last night and it is still on the forum this morning. I thought that TA462 was probably right, so i never e-mailed Bergie. Poor fellow is probably overwhelmed.
I didn’t see anything wrong with your topic, but I’m not an employee of
MRR Magazine… If they deleted it the first time, isn’t kind of a slap in
the face to repost it? If it had been me, I believe I would have asked Bergie
why, or just let it slide. It’s possible that it just got caught up in the deletion
frenzy that went on over the weekend… or maybe he wanted to delete it. Who
knows? Bergie does
Just another point of view. Good luck, Dave
