Given the number of people standing around watching, plus that it was filmed, I suspect it was done intentionally - perhaps for a French version of “Mythbusters” TV show, who did something similar a few years ago…

I think you’re right, there were too many people nearby for it to be random event in the link I posted. Don’t understand what they’re saying but may have clarified the story.
