that 2-8-8-2 baby is hot stuff on the layyout. it is possible to get other loco on review on window player to see rolling.

Looks real fine. Would love to see more of these in N scale. Especially N & W.

I find that the whistle sounds more like a highway truck horn than the real thing. The bell sounds like a mechanical ringer, rather than the good old “bell cord” ringer. With these minor comments out of the way, I find that this is a magnificant model of a great locomotive, and I will add one to my collection of locomotives soon. The exhaust sound is very realistic, and makes the engine seem to be straining with a heavy load. A very well done job

What a beautiful locomotive! I liked the chugging sound but the whistle just didn’t hit me right. I vividly remember the whistle on the UP Challenger #3885 when it came to my home town, and this model just doesn’t ring true to me.

Nice model, but the whistle sounds a little “horn-like.”

I like it but due to my curve radii is to small for, wish I had the room for a layout to accommodate the engine size.

I actually think the Whistle is pretty accurate at least for N&W. I spent many years chasing 1218 and have to say, N&W had some very unique whistles. I will have to compare it to some of the old videos I shot of 1218.

pretty cool. nice for the "H"orribly "O"versized railroaders…but how about us "N"ormal folk?

My wife especially enjoyed the sight and sound of the PC 2-8-8-2 video clip. Unfortunately, the engine would not run on my layout, my curve radii are too small.

The whistle has got to go

Wow! That just shows how much more dynamism and reality one can get with DCC.

Looks a superb model, excellent detail and runs so well slowly. Is the horn sound just bad recording or does it really sound like that?

I Like the clips but any chance of seening o gauge?

Awsome!!!The whistle doesn’t blow my horn.Other than that,I enjoyed the video!!

a real “huff and puff”, a gem of an addition to any layout

The whistle sound is right in the video, but it was different at the Philly show. Reading about the engine in MR says that there are several whistle selections. The sqeaky whistle is about right. My only objection is the boxy shape below the engineer side running boards at the front of the smokebox. Picky, picky, picky. LOL

The model looks to run exceptionally smooth at slow speed. The detailing is awesome. Well done Precision Craft. Can’t wait till Baldwin Shark Season for me.

Looks like a nice model, especially with lighted markers. Having chased N&W 1218 for many years I disagree with other reviews on whistle tone. Distincive as N&W frieght whistles were, it seems to be a fine representation. Yes, it does not seem “right” that such a big locomotive would have such a toosie whistle, but they really did! – I wish the video demonstrated longer blasts of the whistle instead of just short toots, the chuffs and bell seem too staccato and choppy. I wonder how much bigger a speaker one could fit the tender! I’m a Pennsy guy myself, but I think my N&W/Soundtraxx friends would be satisfied.

It’s a nice model, the whistle don’t sound right.I worked for U.P.R.R.for 20 some year.Been around 3985 and 844 many time. This whistle sure don,t have that lonesome sound.Your doing ok, keep up the good work.(you will get it yet)
