Looking to build/modify a water tower in n-scale that would fit in the 1880-1900 era. Any one had any luck with this? Any ideas where to start. (I look at Sellios’ work, what he’s done with plastic kits, and think there’s gotta be a way…!)
the ones here looks suitable - mainline or branchline versions

All wood and metal too at a reasonable price
To be honest it wouldnt be worth scratchbuilding at this cost
Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks!
happy to help - hope it looks good on your layout
If nothing else, you might start with some photos and or illustrations. Time Life had a collection of books on the Old West, one of which was The Railroads, this volume includes a number of photos of train stations, personel, tracks, trains, etc. With the photos, you will at least have a guide to work from, beyond that, pick the starting structure, and have at it!
Most of the train museums have images as well, so it shouldn’t be too dificult to find the look or style you are looking for.
Great looking tower!
