Today; the ‘’ NO FISHING’’ signs are up at the Mid Cont.rairoad Museum depot at North Freedom Wis.
What exactly is your point?
Jim; Just look at their web cam.
The Baraboo River has run out of its banks. Seems to be a big flood this time.

Many towns along the river are having problems, dams cracking, etc.
Shouldn’t it be “and narry a drop to drink?”
Nonetheless, good quote; one of my favorite plays.
Gabe
Actually it’s “Water water everywhere nor any drop to drink” and it’s from a poem (Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner by S T Coleridge)
Thanks, now I see the point…WOW.
“The very deep did rot, O Christ, That ever this should be, Yea slimy things did crawl with legs, Upon the slimy sea” Off topic but the poem is worth it. Good job, jimrice.
I couldn’t see the pictures, but can imagine the damage. What a calamity.
I’ve been hearing tales about flooding in places in Michigan that are normally relatively immune from such things, just from rainfall volumes (also unsubstantiated reports of “sinkholes”–more likely washouts–in roads).
We found 1.2 inches of rain in our gauge from overnight–judging from the way it’s coming down as we speak, we might have another impressive total later on.
P.S. For some reason, it’s a “rime”, not a rhyme.
Just a few miles away, near the Wisconsin Dells, a dam broke and emplied Lake Delton into the Wisconsin River. The deluge cut a new river trench 300 feet wide through a residential neighborhood.
For those who can’t load the Java-based webcams; here’s a screenshot of it.

Thanks, Tyler, much appreciated. North Freedom is one of my next destinations. I hope they don’t sustain too much damage.
I don’t see how Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin are getting such heavy volumes of rain. We’ve had a lot of rain but nothing like that. Of course, it will make its way down the Mississippi eventually. We are already 6 feet over flood stage and the new statue of Lewis and Clark on the riverfront is a subject of derision. They put the statue too close to the river and now all you can see is an arm coming out of the water waving a hat.
Over the weekend, a front stalled out over central Wisconsin. It just kept dumping water, and there was a pretty big temperature difference. There is not much (if any) train traffic moving in the southeast Wisconsin area at this point.
Add S.D., Iowa, and MN to those states not having any problem keeping the dust down.[:(]
When the contents of our rivers up here this week gets down there in a couple of weeks, you won’t even see that.
Could someone replace the hat with a white flag?[:-,]
P.S. For some reason, it’s a “rime”, not a rhyme.
Actually “rime” is the salt crust that forms on your rigging and sails after a blow has wet everything down with seawater.

closer to a sailor than a railroadman
Portage, WI got 9.46" according to the Madison weather gurus.
North Freedom area got about 11’'. Go look at the webcam now…it’s worse than what it was before. Almost up to the base of the passenger cars.
At home, my weather station says that we got 6’'. All is safe according to the neighbors, and I am enjoying my time in West Virginia.

Wow, things really do look bad at the museum…my heart goes out to the volunteers and staff there.
Did anyone see that lake in Wisconsin that disappeared? I believe it is near the Dells. The high water broke the dam and the lake drained down the Wisconsin River. Gone. Chicago Tribune website shows a guy walking in the old lakebed, holding up a pretty big catfish.
Strange weather these days.
