waybills?

hey guys

I have heard and read in MR many people talking about software that you can make your waybills and switch lists on? I have looked in dozens of model railroaders but cant find anything. Can somebody tell me where to get this?

Jeremy

Dave Husman (on this list) has a great CC/WB program for MS Access and it’s FREE.
Perhaps Dave can point you in the right direction.

The files section of the CarCards group on Yahoo has what you’re looking for.

I believe you need to join the group to get access to the Files area, but it’s a free join.

Doug

thanks for the help guys

If you don’t already have MS Access on your computer, another good choice is the “Waybills” program from Shenware:

thanks for the sites guys, the Shenandoah is only a 30 day trial version. thanks for the link though

Jeremy

Right … after the 30-day trial, Waybills from Shenware costs money if you like it … about 40 bucks and well worth it (IMHO)

I did not realize that you only wanted to consider free options.

no i still will consider it but I have nevr used waybills before so am just really looking for something easy to start with.

Jeremy

plus my girlfreind is on disiablitly ( she has leukemia ) so money can get quite tight right now

Jeremy

Sweet - thanks for the link to the MS Access stuff. If nothing else, this looks like it may serve as a roster program as well.

If you are looking for the simplest, cheapest way to start, hand-written waybills and car-cards are an excellent way to “get your feet wet”. Your can continue using them even after you start using a computer system to generate waybills and it gives you some ideas as to how cars shoudl be routed on your layout. The micro-mark set is complete and not very expensive:
waybills

car cards

Or you can make your own with a 3X5 card as the car card and a half-3X5 paper-clipped on as the waybill.

Nobody needs a computer to operate! Of course, if that’s what you prefer, that’s always an option. But starting out with paper limits the complexity to the car movement itself and not the pesky computer.

Here are some links to how the car card and waybill programs work:

Micro Mark’s instructions are here:

Opsig internet resources has lots of good info:

And the Gateway Division is a fine site

…see especially the Essence of Operations article, which is long, but well thought out:

Enjoy. You can do basic CC&WB for almost free if you just want to try it out.
