i am speaking of U.P./NS/CSX run throughs to Kansas City. Does BNSF put on their crews to
run the Marceline sub or are their always crews who work for NS/CSX/UP ready to take their
trains to Kansas City?
UP has trackage rights on the BNSF from Chicago to Kansas City, so I suspect they run their own crews on their trains, but I’m not sure on this. UP trains do change crews in FMD as I’ve been there as it’s happened. As far as I know, NS has haulage rights on the Hannibal Sub (the other line in Fort Madison) and they don’t have to change crews until Burlington.
UP changes crews in Ft Mad. The crews for the NS trains that swap in Burlington are BNSF crews. ANy CSX,NS train out of Chicago is crewed by a Galesburg crew and changes in Galesburg. Depending on the routing its wither going to Quincy to relieve congestion on the Transcon ( SF DS’es hate junk trains on their line)
The only WB crew change at Ft Mad is for UP, and our Z’s and stuff.Any M or H train is recrewed in Galesburg.
The UP rights over BNSF extend west to Hutchinson, KS where a connection is made w/ the Golden State route. Trains west of Kan City are in the hands of a KC-Pratt, KS pool that has turnes based @ both ends.
