WC SD45 7525 has been reretired!

just got the news,

WC 7525 has been retired now. the paper work shows it retired may 30th btu it still ran eventhough status was retired.

pass it on end of the WC SD 45’s

Kinda sad really, a very long lived, great looking (especially with fresh maroon and gold paint) and great sounding unit…the SD45!

R.I.P.

Gotta love the SD45s. I do rember 7525 go through town once. It was parked at the South Yard a while ago (I mean like in the late 2000s). I wish I had my camera back then. Wasn’t smart.

Let us crack open a beverage for the memory of these units … Oh wait … this can was a SD45! (sorry, couldn’t resist!)

They served their time, but now they can pass their duties to air conditioned, safety cabbed, more comfortable engines. Hopefully some will be saved in their present and past glory.

The rebuilt cabs were ok, but I will not miss them. Same goes with the SD40-2 rust buckets. Make 'em go away already.

i liekd them since they were unique in alto fo ways,

back end intake fans ( probably not what they are called but thats what i call them) look at the back u could tell it was a SD45. also wc pretty much did all they could to run them when they got them off of BN’s dealine & some from NP & ATSF. why no one liked them that much since they had 20 cylinders. they were easy to identifre other then looks but by sound. ive only seen 3 of them 7501,7515 & 7531 all in the hub if the wisconsin central Stevens point. i really would of wished i could of got 7525 in fdl & on byron hill. or it would of came up to point, imsure ive seen more but back then i didnt know much abt trains.
