WC SD45 7585

Does anyone know what railroad it started out on? BN or a Santa Fe? I have tried looking, to no avail…[:(!]

I believe most of the WC SD45s were former BN, but that isn’t definite. I don’t know about this one.

It started as ATSF 1842, then 5542 and then 5308.

That’s correct, I looked at this site here http://www.trainweb.org/emdloco/32500.htm and it started out as Santa Fe 1842 in 1966. Thank you.

You’re welcome. The Canadian Trackside Guide has a pretty good CN roster.

Also most of them are of Santa Fe heritage also (heh, think, BN and SF![:D]). Also they have a few of Southern heritage (6550 is one), got one today![:o)]

Hard to believe that CN still has the SD45’s still running around. Most of them were on the NS working off lease hours. From what I have heard, CN will be retirring all the 45’s once they get all thier new locomotives on hand!

I caught a WC SD45 last year that still had BN paint around the window area.

Was it the 7527? I got one last week that was like that.

The one I saw was 7510

LONG LIVE THE SD-45 AND ALL ITS VARIANTS!

Most of the later 75**'s like 6579, and the 7581, those units are Ex ATSF. I believe a few of the 66*'s are actually of BN heritage, along with SBD and ATSF mixed in. 6550,7551,6552,6553,7554,6555,and the 6556 are all ex Southern.
