It was a mining accident. He died quick and wasn’t much to look at. The miners couldn’t get the day off to go to the funeral, so it was just his wife and his father, the Duke.
If you look close you can see my scratch-built coffin.
Wait a minute, where’s the preacher man?
Woodland scenics has a casket and lowering device, that would of been perfect for this. Being a mortican, I took pleasure in this scene.
Super job Chip, incredible detail!
And on the tombstone it reads,
Here lies John
Tops in his craft
til he fell down
that hundert foot shaft!
Sorry Chip, I might have done better, had I got to know the guy![;)]

Great idea, Chip, and the detail is sweet. Nice work.

Great looking scene Chip, and that church looks great in situ. Is it on the layout or a diorama?
The preacher headed out of the outhouse with the TP attached to his foot made me laugh too, great work, thanks for sharing.
Have fun & be safe
Karl.

A sad day. I just picked up some tombstones off of Ebay and plan on doing the same type of scene.
nice scene chip , the Duke looks like a certain cowboy action shooter who’s been seen around here [:)]
Here lies an LHS,
His finances were quite a mess,
His demise, lest you forget,
Was people buyin’ on the Internet.
Nice job Chip! It’s those little touches that make all the difference!
Awesome work. The detail in the scene is great.
My kind of scene. Loved the hidden gems. Look forward to more of your artistry.
Cute, mouse. I know you spent a lot of time on the church, didn’t know you would take it to the next level with the great scene.

All you need is the widow diving into the grave because she saw some gold had been dug up, ala, “Paint Your Wagon.”
I saw a club layout where if you wrecked a loco they put a new tomb stone with your name on it in the cemetary and you were not allowed to operate for 1 month.
I would love that rule at our club. [V]
