We will see the first T55 SD70ACes this fall acording to website

Went to look around at the Tower 55 site and the updated news states that the tooling has finally began on the Sd70ACes and we will see the first of four runs released this fall. Too bad they are not releasing the regular units first of BNSF and Union Pacfic. That will not be until the third and fourth runs which sends those ones into early 2008. The price I am sure is going to be raised from the EXPECTED $299 to $350+ which kinda drags because brass is only about twice that much and the Kato, Athearn Genesis etc are half as much. It puts these new locomotives in a price class of its own. I would like to see how these units will come out and i am looking forwarding to getting the BNSF one and maybe one UP one. That is a long way away though so there is no immediate excitement for these to be released. When I see a protype posted then I will start to get excited.

Considering that the Tower 55 models do have a lot of Brass details I would call them a Hybrid between Brass and Plastic.

I’m also curious how much the price will increase but seriously hope it won’t be much more than $350 a pop. If they raise the price too much then I will simply spread out my purchases - these models won’t sell out within a month or so anyway so no need to rush.

I will get me the UP Heritage 1982 MP, 1988 MKT and the 4141 Bush and then later on the 1995 C&NW and 1996 SP. A few of the normal UP ones and maybe 1 or 2 CSX and/or NS ones and of course I have to have the KCS Southern Belle ones when they are released.

Daniel,

That’s a lot of buying! You know you missed my birthday this year… and they are being released around Christmas…

Actually, I hope the price stays about the same because I’ve already decided I “need” a set consisting of the SP and D&RGW Heritage units and a standard unit.
