weathering black cars.

I have weathered various colored cars with pastel chalks (wet method) and have came out great. This method works great for me.

My question is what colors when airbrushing, (Badger Model Flex Only) do you use to weather black blukhead flats and tank cars. Being I will air bru***hese I want it to be a one time shot at it. Would like a slightly to well used look.

I guess this is why I enjoy the pastel method, mixing various chalks and expermenting with the effects, one has to be zoned in when airbrushing as once its on it there.

Thank you for your replys…Have a great day…John

Just some dusting by the wheels and truck areas, maybe the inside of the bulkheads too.

The general ruile of thumb is dark painted surface use lighter colors. Light painted surface use darker colors. For some reason that is the way the weathering looks in real life.

Thank You both for the reply. Heading for Paint…John

Check out some black autos when you drive down the street. Most dirt is white.

I like Harbor Mist grey, it has a brown cast and lightens dark cars, darkens light cars.

Don’t forget spillage stains on the tanks. No liquid pouring/loading is neat/perfect.
