Weathering - first attempt

This is my first attempt at weathering anything for the layout. Sorry about the photo quality.

“Already-good-at-weathering”, that’s a bang up job for your first time out.

It’s a good looking structure, is it scratchbuilt, kitbashed, a kit???

What methods did you use to weather the structure? Do share and keep up the nice work!

Dan

Sorry, it’s an HO Branchline Laser-Art kit they call “Dans Welding and Fabrication”. It was a straight build.

Dry bursh only with Polyscale paints. First Rust around the hinges and door hangers. Then Grimy Black and Roof Brown. Finally a touch of Aged White around the window sills and where I went too heavy with the other colors.

I wish I had done as well on my first attempt…nice work there [tup]

Nice weathering…Interesting building…Hope to see more of your work,Cox 47

Real nice![tup] The doors and hinges look really good. Maybe age the roof a little more.

Thanks! The old roof leaked badly when Bill bought the business from Dan and so he had it completely replaced. [;)]

It’s painted with Polyscale grimy black. Do you have any suggestions for aging it? I thought about adding tar lines at the seams with a flat black enamel. Anything else?

NICE job–especially since you say it’s your first attempt. Weathering is not one of my talents at all, so I’m aways impressed when I see someone taking the effort to do it. Especially as nice a job as you’ve done.

Nice job. And it looks like from your second photo you are modelling the right Railroad.

What are you talking about? The photos look great![tup]

Looks great! The door hinges look good too! I echo everyone else’s sentiments about a great first time weathering! Nothing destroys the illusion more than a shiny building!

Great job on the building. I also like the Southern loco’s.

Stan.

Nice job. Just hope nobody gets drunk and walks out that second story front door!

They look okay… AlreadyInUse, if you have a way of matching the white balance between all of your photos when showing groups, it would show your models in a much better light. Which one looks the most like the actual model (colorwise) ??

Great job on your “maiden voyage”!![:)]

I’ve used a fine tip black Sharpie for tar lines on roofs and roads.

Terry

Looks great.
