which should be done first when applying decals? also are there certain types of cars taggers like or do the tag anything thanks and good morning to all. rambo1…
Depends on what you’re looking for…I’ve seen some old/weathered cars that have been recently “tagged” and I’ve seen some “tags” that have been weathered/worn.
Taggers hit anything, but in our case (ho or n scale), it would be difficult to tag a flat car (not saying it can’t be done).
I apply my tag decal last, after the weathering is done. I do mine by hand, so I guess maybe do the decals last also. I would be worried that the decal would come off while your still working on the car.
My of the tags I’ve seen are on boxcars, autoracks, and hoppers. VERY few on engines, flatcars, etc…
OK, I’m reinstating this on my own. We’ll see what happens with it.
Locomotives wouldn’t be easy to tag in the model world either since there is so much detail that needs to be worked around. I’ve seen a photo of a Southern Pacific locomotive that was tagged so heavily that the only way you could tell that it belonged to the SP was by looking at the nose of the locomotive. The bloody nose livery really stands out.
Pelle has a new book on the subject.
I am planning on purchasing but even though it has tagged cars on the front cover the table of contents doesn’t mention the G word.

Anyone purchase this yet? Is it worth it for the OP (and me) to purchase?
