Weathering wheels

I have purchased a Model Power Canada Grain Car. Here is what it looks like
http://www.modelpower.com/site/519087/product/3488 The wheels are too shiny compared to all of my other freight so I was wondering what would be the best way to weather the metal wheels? Any ideas?

I just paint the face of the wheels with ModelMaster “leather”. You can add a little black depending on how “old” you want the car to be.
