Web Cam does not show

When I look at the web cam at Rochelle, IL, the picture is black and there is a little red X in the corner. I am logged in. Can anyone tell me how to activate the web cam?

Thanks!

You might try the web cam again. I just went to it and it was working fine.

Sounds like you have to download Java

Correct, I had the same problem and the web cam worked well once I downloaded the latest version of Java.

Go here to get the latest version. It’s free:

http://www.javasoft.com

Remember, you have to empty the Java cache and delete your “Temporary Internet Files” on a regular basis or it will take a looooong time to load and start running.

To operate as the fastest speed possible – Go to your computer’s “Control Panel” and click on “Java” after you load the program. Under the “General” tab on the “Java Control Panel” that pops up you’ll see at the bottom “Temporary Internet Files.” In that box, click “Delete Files.” Then click on “Settings.” Next click on “View Applets” at the top right. Make sure the box at the bottom left of the “View Applets” frame where its says “Enable Caching” is BLANK. Click it off if it has an X in it.

That will make any Java applications run faster. You’ll need to dump your Temporary Internet Files on a regular basis, but Java will no longer save Applets, which also slow down the webcams.
