Wedge Caboose

Was looking on Railcarphotos.com and came across this:

The date on the pic was May 31, 2008 in Tacoma, WA.

Looks like an fomer burlington northern extended visiion caboose to me What is your question LaRRY

There was no question involved. This is the first time I have seen a caboose with the new logo.

Finally a “swooshy” caboose…

Swell colors and no windows, that must be like riding in a steel footlocker.

I suspect that the ‘no windows’ bit implies ‘no riders’, just a platform for someone to stand on when backing. Only safe way to do it. Hanging on the side of a car with communication device, radio, whatever, in the other hand is slightly hazardous to one’s health.

The doors are not locked, and it has a brand new waste tank,(toilet) discharge valve…best bet is it is used on a local turn/switching job where a long back up move is standard…an out there one day and back the next job.

For whatever purpose it may serve it’s good to see that a few cabooses still have their place in modern day railroading. Also, the BNSF logo patched on… I like it!

Not as cool as the caboose the BNSF repainted this spring…in BN COLORS AND LETTERING NO LESS!

…Any photos available of it???

Of course!

Yep…That’s a good looking caboose. Thanks for sharing Max.
