Weekend Photo Fun 1/26/06

I know this is only Thursday night! I am leaving for N.C. in the morning and I just wanted to share my photos from last Friday.
These were taken in Houlton Maine; I do not know anything about the Train since I do not live in that state just thought you might like to see them.

all i see are the dreaded red X"S

all that shows up are red X’s.

You have to link to a website, not your hard drive.

Like this picture, also from Presque Isle, ME.

Or this one from Rockland, ME.

Here are two photos from the building of the AB Brewery Bevo bottling plant in St Louis…you can see more photos by clicking on the link below…lots of great photos from my glass plate collection!

I completed a wooden engine shed kit to be used by the mine switcher. This is not where it is going to be placed on the layout, but I wanted to get a picture of it with some tracks in the photo rather than on my bench.

Simon, that looks great!..I see that you model the “Q”…I also model the CB&Q plus the MKT in eastern Missouri c1969 pre BN…What type of switcher will be using the shed?..

The mine that I am building was a subsiduary of the Chicago North Western so I am going to use an Atlas S2 that I have in CNW livery for the mine. It will probably also be used by a Q steam switcher. I am not a slave to prototye but sick fairly closely to the road names that were in Illinois in the 50’s.

Simon I took these back in 1983 …I think this is on the N&W (old Wabash) in Mt Olive ILL.

The mine I am building is Mount Olive #15 in White City, Il about 2 miles from the flour mill on the other side of I55. The following is all that is left of the mine, just the power house. My Wife’s Grandfather died as a result of an accident in this mine, so I am planning to reproduce it on the layout.

The flour mill is still operating, but you can not get as good a view of the building as there is a lot more modern superstructure on the front now.

Nice locomotive [8D]
It is GP50 or GP60 ? ( photo )

It’s been weeks since I’ve been able to do anything on the RR. Work has been kicking my proverbial backside. No let up in sight until end of Feb. But, today, it’s off to the SAMRA train show in San Antonio Texas.

A few weekends ago, I installed my first ground throw on the small test layout I have. I noted another way to install these in the recent Dream Plan Build DVD. Will have to try that also.

And, also installed a cab control box on the facia.

Nice pics guys amybe next week ill put sume up!!! Tim

Some truly interesting Photos this week. Great work, as usual! I don’t have anything to share as I haven’t even been near the layout this week as I have been getting ready for a major recording of a County Music festival. Jr. - Sr High School performers. I had to buy a new Hard Drive Recorder for the Business as my old ADAT (tape type) Recorder has started doing some weird things, plus my main mixer died. So not only have I had no time (put in 30 hours in the last 3 days helping the staff at my old school who hosted the event) but am just shy of bankruptcy at the moment. The recorder seemed to work well and I have back up copies as well. So next week there will be little time for MRing as I have to get the CDs finished and out to customers.

Some of the time, I have no time, and other times, I have no money… What is really a pain though is having no time and no money.

Keep up the great work and share those photos. Inspire me to go down cellar and work on the layout!!! [:D]

The locomotive “Antelope” stops at Wagon Road Creek trestle for a photo session, Brakeman Mr. Bean in attendence.

Picked up these 3 for $2 each at the San Antonio SAMRA show yesterday.

They are 1/72 so a little off size for HO. Couldn’t resist.

Great pics so far everybody, here’s something from me - a few shots of the reconstructed steel mill area on the Iron Belt:

An overall view of the East end of the BOF shop…

…and a view of the West end, including the ingot teeming area:

A closeup view of the “charging” area:

An even closer-upper view of a hot iron charge:

Ken, nice shots! I love the “charging” area shots. Tell us how you did the lighting.

Ken- I really hope that’s lighting, I would hate to see someone bump that table and for it to go up in flames! At first glanses I could have sworn that was a real fire. You must tell us how you did that.

Here’s one for the steel buffs out there…

Took this picture yesterday in Hamilton, Ontario from a highway bridge. This is looking into Dofasco Steel.

I have a very large version on my weblog, it is interesting to look at all the interesting detail on the large version.
