Weekend Photo Fun 1-6-06

Hi all. Let’s see this weeks pics!

C&S GP30 rolls by as Jimmy gets to know the Mayor’s daughter a little better. Hey buddy, watch those hands!

LOL - that’s cute!

My second domino is in the process of getting track laid on it. I’ve got it all painted brown, which has some definite psychological advantages over bare pink foam:

The track in front is just there to have a place to put it… as much as I’d love an 8 track yard.

From the other direction:

I used one of those ColdSolder gadgets with a conical tip on it to solder in the rail feeders - one of the best looking (invisible) ones so far:

Its the weekend already? Man time flies when you are retired. Maybe I just overslept again…

More has been done this week on the backdrop for the New York, Ontario, and Western.

As you can see, the thunderstorms have washed away all the old 22+ year old lichen (UGH!) trees, shrubs, and other so called “growth”. A friend of mine has suggested that I apply for funds from FEMA to, uhm, ah, help repair the damage. LOL. You may notice that snow covered hills have also appeared behind the upper level track. This will become a “forest” (We have a lot of them up here the North East - we like them better than sagebrush and sand…).

Pardon the mess here, but construction is underway!

(Just corrected some typos… I am multitasking tonight. Making DVDs of my son’s wedding last August for the family, working on some photos, printing labels and covers for the DVD, and finished doing some work for a local organization. So I have i-DVD, In-design, Photoshop, Word, Excel, Safari, and my mail programs all working at same time. I just have trouble keeping up! [:p])

Everyones photos look great and as always helps in motivation.
Thanks

Here is one pic from me for now, i will have some more up later…

Here are a couple of photos of things on the BRVRR.[:D]

My NYC Hudson, a Christmas present from my wife with a mixed consist of heavyweight and streamlined passenger cars.

Four trains, four steamers, all with sound operating on the BRVRR Christmas weekend.[:D]

Very nice pictures everyone. Here something that I have worked on for some of this week. I’m really happy with how it came out, complete with working street lights to. Now it just needs a few more junkers and wrecks.

This is always such an inspiring part of the week. Great work chaps!

I have really come back to work on the layout with a vengence. I have about a 2" space down the side of my yard and have finally got around to doing something about it. The end of the yard has a area that I decided will be a seedy part of town. It needs a lot more detailing (Street lights, weathering on the road, road markings and signs etc) but here are the results so far. The background was made from pics found on the web that I ran thru the “big picture” software application that lets me make poster size images. I am quite happy with the results so far.

I have mostly been just working on wiring this week, but nobody wants to see that. However I did finish up one of the railboxes I’m weathering.

I think Im needing a new camera, the old 1.2MP fossil just doesnt cut it anymore. Grande Man, your shots are very crisp, what camera do you use?

Some good looking stuff on here already. Nice one Grande Man! Ray, those backdrops look AWSOME! I don’t have anything to add this time, but I am in the proccess of building a Pikestuff Fire Station kit that will be my second structure for the layout. ( WOW 2 whole buildings! Man, I’m burning it up huh? [:D] ) I should have some pics of it next time. Till then, keep those pics. coming!

Here is a pic of my old layout. Actually, this section has survived demolition and is now used as a static display module.

Here are pics of my New layout currently under construction, which will have a European theme.

Here is another view. Just finished the staging yard on the left side of the photo and am now ready to resume the second level with the large yard and engine facilities. For more information you can visit my Website.

Break time for the crew…some of my trains taken on one of the “clubs” 6 footers that I did the scenery on…being in a rr club give you the chance to learn from others and practice your skills…I’ve been in this club (McDonnell Douglas…now Boeing) since 1981

Very nice pics folks!

Here’s one more of CB&Q power, this time in the Mine District…

Hi all,

A couple of contributions. I know that I need to work on my scenery and photography skills, but it’s a start. So be gentle.

Tim, the problem with your first post is that you need to replace the < and > with [ and ]. Then your photos will show up here. You can edit your fist post so you do not have to post again.

BTW, some really, really nice work! Thanks for posting!

I am laying track and I got both of the items I won off of eBay. 4 UP stock cars and a 2-8-8-2 Proto 2000.

Tim…very good start…those cows look great! You might try using some extra light sorce to help your photos…and a little weathering will take the shine off your buildings and street…looks like you did a fine job in painting and if you add a few signs on them they will look like they are ready for customers! I fine a good sorce for signs is to go to ebay, under collectables; advertising; do a search for signs then I copy n paste to my publisher desktop, crop & resize, fill a full page of signs…file till needed. Then when I print the page I do it on a white full sheet lable, then you can cut, trim and just peel to stick on card stock, plastic sheet, or on the building. Thanks for showing the photos!

Here are a sample of some signs, double click on the photo to enlarge it.
