Well I couldnt find it so darn it I am gonna start it, even if I am the only one posting , WPF was always something I looked forward to through the week, for inspiration, motivation and to admire others ‘work’… heck we even ended up with midweek photo madness at one point last year… Hopefully now that the weather is cooling, grass is stopping growing and summer is fading [:(] … people will return to the hobby/computer and post their progress, acheivements and/or just plain old stuff they did that they would like to share with the rest of us. I know I for one would like to see your modeling achievements/progress, whether it was done this week or in one week of 1969.
Card board and plaster cloth land forms completed, adhering STRICTLY to the proto pics (as shown) … well OK not really, but I did need a rough guid to follow.
(My version of) Ground goop is spread on the land form on the main areas, cling film is placed where the trestle will sit while the ‘ground goop’ is wet and pushed down in an attempt to achieve a snug fit. (this wrked well but a few areas needed extra filling)
A few of the several hundred trees are placed so I can get a feel of how things are progressing, how the trees look and which direction to follow next.

This is a building interior, before I put the other two walls on the building. It’s “Baldy’s Barbershop” from Model Power. Everything you see is included with the kit, with the exception of the barber. He’s a Preiser, and he sacrificed a beautiful head of dark hair to take on the part of Baldy.
The shop is a 4-story building, and I’ll be adding Walthers fire escapes to the back wall once it’s all together. It’s a lot of work. They designed the doors and even the over-under double-hung windows to open and close, so there were a lot of window frames to assemble. I’ve been painting bits and pieces of this kit for a week, too. On the other hand, isn’t this what the hobby is about.
So, Karl, how many decades did it take you to make that trestle? Amazing, simply amazing…
Don’t let anyone say “You put to much ballast on the track” this is by my dads house today, they are welding in a 1/2 mile section of new track, they cut up the old track Saturday morning, dug out 4ft of old ballast, placed a membrane over the clay, replaced the ballast and new track on concrete ties ballasted it, now the weldings done the ballast regulator and tamper can do there stuff
My contribution for this week is a photo of an old Kato SD40 that I painted in Conrail livery. I dug out the ol’ airbrush and dirtied her up a bit; didn’t want to overdo it so I’m keeping it ‘light’ for now (the “less-is-more” philosophy I think it’s called…?) since I’m still new to the art of weathering.
All you guys are great, and I am happy to say it sounds like you are having fun. Very good!
I have managed to get into overdrive after a necessary summer off, and installed my own modest trestle just last week. I have no pictures yet, but hope to post some in the next couple of weeks. Hardshell is coming along nicely, too.
It is so nice to be having fun again. It was a long summer.

Nice pics everyone, I am glad to see the WPF is back, seems not very many people are posting here any more. Maybe it will get better as the weather cools down and everyone gets back on the RR.
I haven’t done much this week, have been busy doing other things. I did manage to get the rail fence up at the Fillmore Estate and have had a littlt time to run some trains, although I cannot doublehead the two new Geeps because they will not stay coupled together. I do, however have some Kaydee’s on order they should be here the middle of the week.

This is what my royal gorge hanging bridge area looks like right now. It’s soon ready for some vermiculite mix. I have used two masking tape rolls so far [:)] I have some work left to do in the middle.
Here’s a update on the Barbershop. I got the building together, and glued on the Walters fire escapes to the back. Somebody a while back said that the backs of buildings could be more interesting than the fronts, particularly since they face the railroads, in general. This is right in the front of my layout, so I hope it gets some attention.
Succeeding my previous contributions from last week, here are a few photos of the nearly completed mountain and trench on my clubs layout. A fellow modeler got the idea to represent “drill and blast” on the rock faces, so if you are wondering, that’s what all those vertical lines are… Still to come is a radio antenna atop the mountain, a farmhouse at the base of the mountain, and perhaps a hobo campfire; above the rock shelf. Don’t mind the shiny rocks, the glue was still wet when I shot the photos.
