Hey everyone, it’s time for one of hte best threads of the week “Weekend Photo Fun” This thread is for us to show what we have been working on during the week, or our projects for the weekend. May I present my “last minute job”. I did this, since I wanted the club to have something new to show off this open house…This should really help with me getting the golden spike certificate from the NMRA.

Note: LEDS and I still need to light up 12 stalls, and then do a second bank of 18 lights. The last minute project was, putting the LEDS in. So, let’s see what everyone is up to.

I finally have a horizontal ribbed boxcar ready for the new layout. This one is built from a Sunshine Models kit. It went together really nice, except I had bid problems getting the ladders to look right. I hope it is OK.

Last Mondey evening, I was involved in a big fun project. For the second year, the LL Bean store in Freeport, ME invited Boothbay Railway Village to bring our Christmas and outdoor themed layout to display in the Childern’s Department of their store. We started the install around 7:30 PM and work continued untill work after midnight.

Jimmy … The roundhouse looks fabulous.

I’ll be taking a break from model railroading from now through Thanksgiving weekend becasue of family activities. … Here is where I am now with my corner project. The 1900-era bulidlings and structures are placed in a corner next to the aisle. Next, I will lay track and install scenery.

Jimmy, Nice work, reminds me I need to do some detail work inside on my roundhouse.

Kevin, I really like those old MILW cars, having seen more than a few back when they were more common. Nice work on getting it a second life with new paint.

George, Nice work, good cause.

Our railfan was out at night this time. First a shot of the loading dock at Thompson’s Wholesale in Silverton.

After a brief chat, the photog grabbed the first train to Red Mountain in the inky pre-darkness. There he took a great shot of the statuion across from the new Hotel Mears.

I haven’t participated in WPF for quite a while. My bad! I won’t bore you with any lame excuses.

I am heavily involved with my club’s new permanent layout. I’m sure most of you have seen the thread. I will share some recent pictures of the new layout in its infancy:

FWIW, I did the layout design and everyone seems to be happy with it. Being the VP of my club has almost become a full time job, but I’m not complaining! I am having a ball!

Jimmy,Kevin,George, Garry, Mike, some interesting projects…all the talent…oh… and I can’t forget the new VP ‘‘critter’’ Dave.

I managed to finish the two dumps…almost finished HD low boy for the grader, which is not entirely finished…weathering and chain tie downs. Still need two tractors to be finished and one more low boy for the new tracked front-end loader and that will about complete ‘‘JaBear’’ construction Ltd.

BTW: The dump trucks are 1955 Autocar ‘‘constructor’’ trucks known as ‘‘Brutes’’ in their day.

I should be able to continue work on My bridge project soon…My shoulder is healing great…for a 75 yr’ old LOL.

A quick coat of paint and 40 has a cab roof. The rest of the week was spent on decal design, which have been ordered.

Good morning from cloudy and cool Northeast Ohio! Jimmy, thanks for starting us out, a lot of work has been done on that roundhouse since the last time we saw it, good work.

I did not get a lot done this week, with other matters that needed attention, so a couple of old shots I took at the club.

Pennsy GP9’s with a coal drag passing Central GP40’s in a siding with a general freight.

GP38 and SD38 as normal power on the Delta Turn with a train of Auto Parts to be delivered to the N&W for the Ford Fast Trains to Kansas City and Milpitas.

Jimmy, Thanks for opening the WPF and the views of your nice roundhouse interior.

George, Ahh, great to see such heartwarming photos. Holiday model train displays in stores are a rarity nowadays, but still the stuff that dreams are made of.

It’s the time of year when one can easily catch a case of freight car weathering fever.

G Paine, I love the winter setup! (makes me cold just looking at it!)

This weekend I dug up this old SW1200 from the model train “purgatory box” and painted/decaled it up! Might weather it a bit more and do some touch ups but it’s coming together! :slight_smile:

According to my watch, my weekend still has about an hour left— I can still get in the door!

Thanks for the startup, Jimmy! Your roundhouse lighting looks great! You have me thinking about re-doing the lighting in my own R-H now. Mine looks kind of paltry, by comparison.

Lots of great contributions as usual, folks!

I have WAY more projects going than I can post here but for now, I’ll stick with some of the Hulett progress.

Somehow, an idea popped into my old cranium for getting power for the lights by using the crawler tracks and making up some brass shoes. Of course, when I put down the N scale track I didn’t think I was ever going to power it so I had to scrub off the paint and solder jumpers at four joints (didn’t have any code 55 rail joiners anyway!)

So, here are the brass wipers that will collect power:

This is the back-side and out of view. Still the bronze wire looks like pipe/conduit and is practically invisible after it was painted.

I’m trying out various resistors here. 1600Ω seems to give a nice glow. The wiring tucks up into the beams and up front the wire passes along the shafting. I wired the LEDs 3 in series.
