Weekend photo fun!! 12/23 - 12/25

Its been awhile since I posted something, but here’s my latest car.

From the Caboose thread, since I don’t have anything else new!

Jarrell

Nice work Robby.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted too. I’ve not been able to get much (if any) work done on my layout for a long time, as it’s been a rough year economically for me. But I managed to put a short video together to a tune I recently came across.

I don’t usually run (or model) Santa Fe, but it wouldn’t make sense to use anything else for the music:

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

A very well done video! Nice, smooth camera work, pleasing music, no long drawn out scenes, good transitions! A plus!

Btw, I hope 2012 is a lot better economically for you… [:)]

Jarrell

Really great video and very nice layout, you set the bar very high!

Sorry Robby, no rust on my railroad, thanks for starting. I finally finished the final two Exact Rail PS 4427 Covered Hoppers and painted and lettered them this last week.

Since I had the decal from Herald King I had to do another Anderson’s Covered Hopper to add to my collection. I used to see these cars going from the elevator in Maumee to the Elevator on the Maumee River in Toledo as they rolled past our house.

While looking through Oddballs Decal List, I found this decal for a early PS 4427 Covered Hopper and since l like the Burlington Scheme I did this car.

Thanks for looking!

An Alexander Scale Model PRR Flag stop kit nearing completion for a friend’s layout:

I still have some weathering and scenicking to finish up before I’m done. Although you can’t see it, the backside of the roof lifts off for access to the interior of the building. Wood flooring, trim, and interior lighting has also been added. The light pole is scratch-built and functional.

In a way it’s going to be hard to give this up once I’m done with it. So much time and effort goes into these sorts of projects that they become both endearing as well as enduring. [:D]

Tom

This week I’ve been working on the river/bridge scene on my extension room layout.

It’s ready for some water, which will be completed this afternoon.

Very nice work from everyone, this week, and Merry Christmas to all.

Robby: Good to see you, and I like the weathered box car. … Jarrell : Your X480 looks great. … MA Bruce: Nice video. Santa Fe units did sometimes travel onto eastern roads, and it looks good in the video. … Rick: Nice hoopers especially the CB&Q. … Tom: Great work on the depot! … Michael: Nice job with installing the bridge. … DJ: That’s a great photo of the GP7’s. What! No Alcos!

Lots of great pictures so far!
Keep it up & Happy Holidays!

One of my projects this week was to paint some flawed castings I got from Stoney Mountain Classic. The first part are some assorted old cars that will spread out over the back half of the layout and the second part is a junkyard scene that will also be on the back half of the layout, so little details aren’t a requirement. The paint used is flat and satin latex house paints. Since they are latex they have a problem sticking to resin so it’s necessary to spray on a thin coat of gray primer or Clear Flat first.

The first part, the old car bodies ranging from 1937 to 1951.

The second part, the old junkyard scene:

That’s all for now.

Nice work so far this week everyone!

As a group, we really seem to have picked up our modelling and photography! [8D]

DJ, I really like the light in your photograph. Of course, it goes without saying that the modelling is excellent and nicely displayed.

McFunky, very commendable job on the wooden model. Same for Tom, the whistle stop looks like it will be a showpiece.

My contribution is, “Home for the Holidays”. A Duplex silently coasts to a stop at Seneca. Oblivious to the looming sleek monster about to cast its shadow on her, a young girl is engrossed in a poster on the wall of the depot.

Here is one for DJ. I really liked his F30d in the piggyback thread, and it finally motivated me to start a couple of them I have been putting off for a while. If I am feeling frisky, I may build the loading ramp for the terminal as well.

Very, very nicely done, Odie. I like it! DJ.

Thanks, DJ!

hey I have something Ive been workin on ,cant compete with Micheal’s bridge ,but I’m off and rolling…Jerry

Great work Crandell, DJ and Garry. I have to admit that Crandell’s photo is awesome.

I have been working on PL signals. I have wired/soldered extensions on the 4 I will be using. I have used different color wiring to try to make it fool proof under the layout.
