Weekend Photo Fun 12/7/08 thru 12/9/07

Wow, no one has started it yet? Everyone must be busy with holiday activities. [:D]

Since I’m stuck home this evening, I guess I’ll start WPF off:

Not one of my favorite shots, but taken beside the stream on my layout (N-scale):

Great start there MAbruce!

Here is my contribution, and a bit of a question too!

What window pane should I go with? The four pane, sixteen pane, or sixty-four pane window frame for my roundhouse renovation?

Here is a new roof too:

I was thinking the same thing Bruce. If I hadn’t done a refresh, would have started another one.
Nice looking scenery as always.

Started this project last Sunday with some early photo of progress on Sunday Showoff.

Starting point is a BB SW7

Since last weekend added some window shades and finished some detail work. Still need to get decals for headlamp # boards, add antenna, and maybe strobelight, but done for now.

HO scale, I always forget to say that!

SilverSpike-My vote would be the 16. Is that the Alpine Scale round house?

Nice looking roundhouse Ryan. The 16 pane windows look best to me, for a roundhouse anyway.

Ryan, sorry to buck the trend, but I say the 64. reason = smaller panes of glass are cheaper to replace in a location where broken glass would not be unusual - that is if they scale to about 9x12" or so. My [2c]

Ryan, I would go with the 64 pane windows. To me the 16 pane looks, too large. But that’s that opinion.

Well I don’t have much to contribute. My two WC P2K SD45s came about a week ago. There very nice. Here are a few photos of them.

Here’s 6505 and 6588 decending down the 2% grade.

Here’s a bad picture of the trailing unit 6588.

If you know me, or have seen my photos, you know that this shot is common. 3005 leads Ex ATSF SD45 5547 out from the old MILW interchenge on to the main.

Here’s 5547.

At the end of this short local is a Ex GBW caboose.

Here a shot my locomotive roster I have so far. From right to left it is Ex ATSF SD45 5547, WC SD45 6505, WC SD45 6588, WC SD45 6588, WC GP40 3005, WC SW1500 1551.

Here is another picture.

BTW sorry for so many pictures. I think I kinda over did it. But this might be the only thing I have this weekend.

A few from me…

Bruce, a very nice start to the week’s best thread. [:D] How about a 10 sq ft view some time?

For the other gentlemen, nice images. I like the new touch of adding some evening and silhouetted shots.

Here are some of mine, same ol’, same ol’. I hope to have some new addtions in scenery over the Christmas break.

-silver spike, I’d probably have to go with 16, i like 4, but that seems a little too large

nothin too pretty from me this week, I just continued working on my benchwork, I have the backdrop and fascia installed now, hoping i have time to atleast primer them by sunday

really cant wait to start doing some of this

Guilford, WCfan and others… great pics. I have yet to detail/paint locos…still working on track. So…here goes.

This is my first TOTAL scratchbuild… A 90ft Howe truss. I had ordered a T.P. Flemming kit that didn’t work, so I went to a few links…

So, pictures first:

Another closeup…I actually put in NBW castings (can’t believe I did this… first ever!!!)

Anyway, it was a blast, and it only cost me like $15-20!!! I got plans from google books and the following link (VERY helpful!!!): http://www.blackbearcc.com/Truss_Bridge_Clinic_Barrett2.pdf

Keep up the great pics guys!

Brian

Most impressive!

Heres another production in the works.

Ah, ho-hum, another rustbucket from Aggro…[swg]

Seriously, though, good lookin’ project.

Brad

Brian, that bridge is amazingly realistic. It reminds me of walking across the train trestle in Plainwell, Michigan, when I was a kid. And, Aggro, you are a true artist.

Here are a few shots from DDW:

Somebody got stuck behind the bus…again!

A bird’s eye view of the park and Kinkakuji

The farm

Don

Really nice work here, as always. Sometimes I feel badly singling out folks for individual comment, because it could inadvertantly imply that I didn’t like the other stuff…my intent is not to leave other examples of great work “behind”, but, I can’t comment on every posting.

Silver Spike - that structure is going to be fantastic…I vote for the 16-panel windows. ShadowNix, the bridge is great, and Aggro, well, your weathering skills are always impressive. Selector, very nice shots from a perspective we haven’t seen before. Donald - great scene!

I’ve been doing a lot of business travel lately, so I’m WAY behind in my Christmas preparations. If I’m lucky, this weekend I’ll get a moment to work on some new structures, but certainly won’t have any time to take new layout pics. So…the best I can offer is a leftover from a previous session (MEGA Corp.‘s Resins Division). Nothin’ special.

Cheers.

Nice work everyone. The dusk shots are cool, need to add a headlight in there to be awesome!!

Silver spike, I like the 64 count window. Looks better in size of pane and as someone stated a heck of alot cheaper when you woops a pipe through a pane of glass. I know from fixing windows that it is also a lot easier to replace the small ones than the big ones.(a lot less stress breakage if you don’t get all the little pieces off the framework). Just my [2c] is your roundhouse go with what you think looks best.

Great Stuff Guys !!! [bow]

Not much new for me I did finish one more log car

And repainted my MW caboose

Haven’t had much time to model for the last couple of weeks. I did get these 2 freight cars built though, using spare moments in the wee small hours.

The HO kits are from ECW - 70t enterprise cov hoppers - and the dry transfers are from CDS.

Jon

C & O,

Love the MOW caboose…is that a kitbash??? Would love to know more.

Great weathering by all… I weathered my bridge for the first time with washes of rust on the tension wires and Bragdon chalks for the dirt, grime and exhaust stains…

I will post a pic of my other bridge I just weathered…it was fun!
